My ford Explorer 1995 wont shift out of park. Only way it does is if I put ignition in on position and put car in nutural and turn ignition on. My 13 fuse pops thats the fuse for my breaks. Every time I change it and start the car and push the break it pops. Any idea whats causing this? I have tested the break switch thats fine. Looked at the speed control that works fine.

You need to remove the rear light lenses and look for chafed wires. Also look under vehicle and see if it has a trailer hitch wire harness and make sure thats not melted.

Checked the Break Lights those seem fine, the break switch is fine the wiring to the switch seems fine.

Seeing that it bundled to 40 wires hard to figure out where it goes bad.

I feel your pain. Wiring is the hardest part of fixing cars. Slow and steady.

Before this problem came about I was trying to get on the highway off the off ramp and my rpms went to 6-7000 it wasnt shifting gears. So I pulled over in the break down lane and stop the car put it in break put it back in drive and waited 5 minutes than I went back about my buisiness and car worked fine. Once I got to my gfs house, put it in park and went helped her came back to the car to go to walmart I stepped on the break and than I started the car and couldnt get it out of shift.

I am sure they work before I took apart the dash because the signals worked at the same rate and when I took off the rear lights it worked out of normal rate if you know what I mean.

Some models have on the floor between drivers and passengers side. There is a module that tells you if you have a light out. You might not have that option, I want to eliminate all possibilities.

Have you considered running a new wire from the brake switch to the rear of vehicle? Eliminate the shorted wire all together.

My explorer will not go into reverse or drive or neutral. In fact no gears at all. The shifter will move on the coloumn, however the tires wont move and the tranny will not engage at all. It is completely stuck. The truck will not move form its spot, I have tried putting it in 4x4 and nothing works. Got any ideas?

The shifting linkage could be the problem. It is located on the side of the transmission and goes op to the side of the engine that the steering stem goes through
