How much time, trouble, & $ would it cost to replace the tank? have a chance to buy vehicle but owner says tank has a hole in it. (I have access to a lift, but have very little automotive experience.)

Every think goes well a good two hours of labor needed
I would replace the fuel module too save the aggravation of doing it again
