Engine problem
1995 Ford Explorer Engine Size unknown Two Wheel Drive 117000 miles

I HAVE A FORD EXPLORER 95' THAT IS HAVING LOTS OF TROUBLE. WE START THE VEHICLE FINE SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES IT WONT START. WE HAVE JUST PUT IN A NEW FUEL PUMP BECAUSE THE EINGINE WOULD EXCELLERATE WITH OUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL IT WOULD ALSO DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND THEN NOT START AGAIN UNLESS WE SPRAYED STARTED FLUID OR WAITED OVERNIGHT AND THEN IT WOULD START NO PROBLEM SOMETIMES RUN FOR A DAY SOMETIMES 3 WEEKS WITHOUT ANOTHER PROBLEM. NOW WE HAVE HAD THAT HAPPEN ABOUT 8 TIMES AND THE CAR WILL NOT START AT ALL. BATTERY IS VERY WEAK BUT EVEN WHEN JUMP STARTED THE TRUCK WILL DIE THE MINUTE THE JUMPER CABLES ARE REMOVED FROM THE OTHER VEHICLE. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE CAUSING ALL OF THIS TROUBLE. SOME PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THAT IS MAY TO THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. COULD THIS BE TRUE? SHE IS AT THE MECHANICS AGAIN AFTER BEING TOWED FOR SITTING ON THE STREET MORE THAN 72 HOURS WITHOUT BEING MOVED (371.00) NOW AT THE MECHANIC AGAIN, HE WANTS TO SEND IT TO HIS ELECTRICAL FRIEND TO FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG. AUTOMATIC LOCKS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS DO NOT WORK EITHER BUT THOSE ARE MINOR ISSUES AND I CAN'T SEE THAT IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TRUCK FAILING AT A MOMENTS NOTICE. WE HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT 2 YEARS AGO.

The most important thing is a good battery and charging system! The computer needs to read sensor voltages to adjust engine operation, if battery voltage is wrong to begin with, you can't even run accurate tests! Start with the basics.
