1994 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 200+ miles

Recently my Explorer is giving me troubles lately while im driving the rpms with shoot up and my horsepower will drop almost like it going into neutral. What is causing this and what can I do to fix this?

Sounds like an internal transmission problem.
