1994 Ford Explorer running rough at idle/low power

had bad misfire, checked all plugs. found #4 had major buildup around ceramic insulator. was preventing from firing. replaced plugs and engine still running rough and almost dying. think it could be egr valve stuck. need other info if possible. thanks.

Is it a dead miss all of the time or does it run good at times? Has the check engine light come on?
