The Hayes manual says I have only one O2 sensor on my Explorer SUV. Yet the information at AutoZone states that I need to have 2 sensors replaced? How many O2 sensors are on my Explorere?

There are 2 sensors. One on each side of the engine. They are located in the exhaust pipe just below the exhaust manifold. You can't take everything you see in a 3rd party manual as accurate. They cover more than one year, and several variations of the car.

Keep getting conflicting answers to my question. Manual says one for the 1994 model and starting in 1995 there were two. A Ford mechanic at another forum group says there is just one on the 1994. AutoZone parts menu system says there are two and now being told here thre are two. Who's correct?

I only see one?

Thanks in advance,
Tim

I have a 1993 Explorer. It has TWO sensors. I can't imagine the EPA relaxing emission regulations, and eliminating one of the sensors. The sensors are not in an easy okace to see. They are on the backside of the crossover pipe just a bit down from the manifold connection. Mine has one for each side of the engine. I still think you have two.
