1994 Ford Explorer Four Wheel Drive Automatic 126000 miles

I have a 1994 ford explorer 126,000 miles. It just started making this humming noise coming. The sound continues until the car is off.

If it is coming from the engine area, it could be anything that is belt driven, water pump, alternator, p/s pump, idler pulley, tensionier pulley. What I am going to suggest is to remove the serp belt and start the engine to see if the sound is gone so we can limit it to that area. NOTE: Do Not run the engine for more than about 10 seconds without the belt. It could overheat and then you'll end up with new problems.

Try this and let me know if the sound goes away. If, however, you are sure the sound isn't coming from the front of the vehicle, let me know.
