Engine Cooling problem
1994 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Automatic 145481 miles

vehicle has developed a substantial coolant leak at what appears to be the lower intake manifold/left cylinder head joint. Had an overheat due to a stuck thermostat ~ 1 yr ago. Thermostat replaced and no apparent leaks until very recently. Suspect some warpage of aluminum lower manifold but have not yet removed it. Questions are; 1) if warpage has occurred will a fresh gasket set suffice, 2) can manifold faces be resurfaced or is a replacement the only option and 3) has anyone had experience with this particular problem.

Thanks!

If it is warped, a gasket will not fix, and it can not be cut. Chances are the intake gasket has just failed. THe gasket is most likely the problem and not the intake.

Let me know what you find.
