1994 Ford Explorer Codes

Are you having a problem starting the vehicle because none of these codes would cause that.

I have always had some issues with starting when i was running it, just took a second or 2 to start not an immediate start up. Only recently had an issue due to the battery going bad after letting the explorer sit for 8 months. I know there is an issue due to how it was driving.

I was having issues with holding power at highway speeds. Always having my foot to the floor i believe, and some times issues with getting up to speed quickly. If i remember correctly also was having an issue with shifting properly.

I also noticed my braking system is out of wack and had replaced the pads only 9 months i believe after putting them on so i think there is an issue with my abs also. I hear a spoing sort of sound when i put the brakes on at low speeds, around 5 mph, right before stopping.

Its not registered or inspected now so i can't drive it on the highway to test it legally. I didn't want to stop running it, was going to trade it in on the clunkers but couldn't get decision made to do it.

So instead of fixing the explorer and keeping it running, just have let it sit and drove a small car with no power to get me to school and work.

It sounds like your going to have to get it inspected. The info you have doesn't tell me too much, especially since you can't drive it.

I did take it for a short test drive around the block to get the engine warmed up but nothing above 30mph and it was having issues holding rpm when driving on the highway. I didn't know if it would pass at all for the inspection so hoped to fix it first, inspect later. I can look into getting it al setup with registration and so i could drive it on the highway.

Do you know what the codes i gave are connected to? Obviosly what is stated on the reader or online, but don't know parts that would intersect with them since i'm no mechanic.

The EGR system needs to be troubleshooted further and the canister purge valve circuit needs to be tested.
The 538 code is probably just a problem with the way they performed the code test.

As far as the testing of it, i did it myself with a tester, i could have done it wrong with putting my foot down on the pedal and letting it back up again.

So it sounds like i need to take it to a garage and have them take it apart and look it over. Most likely the best solution i sappose.

I also was wondering with the wiper system, it doesn't want to turn off after i turn it on for a short instance. Like to just get dew off, and i had replaced the switch itself and it did not help. Any suggestions on that front would be help also. Thanks
