Electrical problem
1993 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

Turned on my wipers when they had snow on them they went half way up then stoped. I changed the fuse but had no results. I want to check the continuity of the wiper motor to see if that is burned out or if there is another problem. What do you suggest?

WIPERS INOPERATIVE IN ALL POSITIONS Battery Voltage Test 1. Unplug wiper motor connector. Set control switch to HI position. Check for battery voltage on circuits No. 56 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) and No. 63 (Red wire). See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS. 2. If battery voltage exists, go to GROUND TEST. If battery voltage does not exist on Dark Blue/Orange wire, check for the following conditions, and service as necessary. à   Defective interval governor. See INTERVAL GOVERNOR under TESTING. à   Defective wiper switch. See WIPER SWITCH under TESTING. à   Open connector à   Open in circuit No. 56 (Dark Blue/Orange) 3. If voltage does not exist at either terminal, check for the following conditions, and service or repair as necessary. à   Open circuit breaker in fuse panel à   Open connector à   Open in circuit No. 63 (Red wire) Ground Test Connect jumper wire between wiper motor housing and good body ground. If wiper motor runs, repair wiper motor ground wire. If wiper motor does not run, perform wiper motor current draw test. See WIPER MOTOR CURRENT under TESTING.
