Hi:
I would like to know what is the best way for me to trouble shoot the cruise control. It does not work and cannot find anything in my repair manual. If their is any manual that I can buy to help with this problem let me know.

Thanks Terry

The best manual is of course the Ford shop manual. BUT... the Haynes manuals are not too bad if you can read an electrical schematic.

Some tips...

Check that the clutch and brake pedal safety swithes are OK. If either of these switches is open, the cruise control will not work. These switches are meant to disengage the cruise control if either pedal is depressed - even slightly.

Also, take a look at the wiring going to the steering wheel. There are 3 slip rings on the back side of the steering wheel, and a dirty slip ring can cause the switches in the wheel to become ineffective. You can check this connection by removing the turn signal switch. Also note that the switches are powered by the horn circuit, so if the horn doesn't work, the cruise also will not work.
