i pulled the tranny out and changed the shaft seal and reinstalled the tranny but now it will not go into any gear what did I do wrong

Which shaft seal are you referring to? The driveshaft seal? The converter seal? Or the shift linkage seal?
I might suggest that you may not have connected the transfer case shifter linkage (unless you have a pushbutton for 4X4).
