Transmission problem
1992 Ford Explorer 4 cyl Automatic 152000 miles

so, I'm interested in purchasing a vehicle but the owner stated that the transmission drips a small amount fluid. I took a look at theengineand it was very clean. The owner is a machanic and it seems that he took very good care of the suv, but I'm hesitant because of the drip. Is this car going to need a new transmission?

Hi there,

I would be thinking that it is a minor leak from around the pan gasket, tis is a fairly common problem with most transmissions, if in doubt ask the owner if you can have an independent mechanic check this for you, if there is no real problem , there is no reason that he should say no, and if he dose, just walk away as there may be a problem that he is covering up.
