Transmission problem
1992 Ford Explorer 4 cyl Automatic 152000 miles

so, I'm interested in purchasing a vehicle but the owner stated that the transmission drips a small amount fluid. I took a look at theengineand it was very clean. The owner is a machanic and it seems that he took very good care of the suv, but I'm hesitant because of the drip. Is this car going to need a new transmission?

Hi there,

I would be thinking that it is a minor leak from around the pan gasket, tis is a fairly common problem with most transmissions, if in doubt ask the owner if you can have an independent mechanic check this for you, if there is no real problem, there is no reason that he should say no, and if he dose, just walk away as there may be a problem that he is covering up.
