After a lot of frustration I have reached an impasse.
I can't figure out how to remove the uppermost transmission to engine bolts in order to move the trans back and expose the clutch assembly. My book (Haynes; may it rest in dumpster) only says I may need several extensions to reach them. Big help! I've lowered the trans until the jack actually comes free and I still can't even see the bolt on the passenger side. I have a hunch I'm going to have to remove the entire exhaust (ouch) to get up in there but I'm not sure even that would do it.

HI there,

Thank you for the donation,

I have just been reading this in Mitchell 1 and they advise that the Exhaust will have to be removed to get access to all the bell housing bolts, personally I have never removed one of these transmissions, but with other similar cars I always remove the exhaust back as far as required as it will make things easier in the long term.
