I recently have been experiencing problems with my transmission and the loss of its fluid. It was being caused by it overheating and after a 20-30 minute highway drive it would pour out on the highway. The day I went to look at it I lost drive with no reverse. I recently did a total flush of radiator and all its lines, changed all the transmission oil/filter & replaced the modulator valve. This may have solved my fluid problem and did give me back my reverse. But unfortunately I lost my forward drive on the test drive and have been unable to figure out what needs to be adjusted/replaced or fixed. Does anyone have some suggestions for me or my mechanic that seem to be totally lost on this problem to why I have no forward drive?

Hi wildman30,
Since you have reverse and no other gears, there is a possibility the trans needs a rebuilt as it has overheated and could have pressure loss resulting in no forward gears.

The problem with that is it was driven around for 3-4 miles at highway speeds before it loss the forward drive when pulling back into shop area. Prior to the replacement of modulator valve and flushing the system and changing transmission oil/filter I had drive but it took alot of pressure to get reverse. The vehicle has no problem building up pressure it has a problem moving. And it never really got a chance to overheat as there was always trans fluid and coolant in the vehicle. And it rarely went for any serious long distant drives, at most 45 miles. This truck isn't really worth the time or expense to replace or fix the transmission so I sure hope you are wrong.

Hi wildman30,
I too hope it is nothing serious.
Btw is there a TCM for the trans? If there is, try to scan for any error codes.
