1991 Ford Explorer smells like gas

it leaks gas on the passanger side. Could it be the fuel filter that leaks gas. It only leaks in the morning, puddles of gas.

There are both fuel lines and the filter. Also, it could be leaking from the top of the fuel tank or a hole in the tank. What you need to do is clean off the lines and check it after it is parked. Also, if you have a leak, it will loose fuel pressure. If that happens, it should be hard to start.
