2006 Ford Expedition fuel pump

I have had the fuel pump replaced 2x. After about 2 months it won't start unless you beat on the gas tank.
Mechanics keep telling me it's a bad pump. I think there is something else going on.
Any suggestions?

first off make sure you are using the OEM part direct from the dealer. also make sure you keep at least 1/4 tank of fuel in , lower than that and it is extremely hard on the pump. also may want to replace the fuel filter, if it is dirty it can cause extra strain on the pump.

Both pumps came from a Ford dealership. I have almost a full tank of gas and yes we have replaced the filter.

must be short in the wiring to the fuel pump causing it to fail then. will have to trace and test wiring harness of fuel pump circuit.

If there is a wiring problem wouldn't it cause it to quit workinig if you went over a bump? Once the car starts there never seems to be a problem keeping the car running. Is Ford having problems with faulty fuel pumps?

not necessarily, the wiring could be causing too high or too low of voltage to the pump which will ruin it quickly. this could be caused by a faulty ground wire on the circuit. the wiring is going to have to be traced and inspected.
