Transmission problem
2005 Ford Expedition Four Wheel Drive Automatic 46000 miles

I took my ford in to get an oil change. During the check he said I was a quart and a half low on transmission fluid. I bought two quarts went home to add. I started to the truck to double check and yes i did need to add. I poured the first one in and let run and checked the stick again. Now I am over into the do not add line. I heard that if you go past the hot line this could be bad. Is this true? And if so how bad and what should my next step be?

Hi:
You shouldn't over fill it. How far over full is it? Also, I believe there is a drain plug on the trans pan on the expedition if you need to drain a little. Also, where I work, we use a pump to drain as much as we can through the fill tube so it's less likely to make a mess when removing the pan.

Let me know if this helps, and how much over full you are.
