There is a clanking/ticking sound from the engine when at approx. 1500-1750 rpm. Almost sounds like a diesel (its the 5.4L petrol V8)

HAs the oil been changed on a regular basis? Is it full? Do you have good oil pressure?

Yes. The oil is changed on a regular basis and has just been done last month.

in the past before the clanking/ticking sound, the car would rev up very high for a second once I was staring the vehicle. It has nor happened since.

If you have kept up with that, check to see if you have an exhaust leak. The exhaust manifolds are known to leak after so many miles. And yes, the leak will sound like a ticking noise.
