Noises problem
2004 Ford Expedition Four Wheel Drive Automatic 98,000 miles

help! I have been noticing lately that whenever I step on the gas pedal I hear a high pitched whine. If I let off the gas the noise goes away. any idea what it could be?

Things to check: Pulleys, tensioner idler, alternator, and A/C, remove the serpentine belt, spin the pulleys by hand, any roughness or binding means replace! The other problem makes more of a honking than a whine, but if the air duct from the filter to the throttle body has a crack, strange sounds will be heard, Ford also notes that the IAC(idle air control)valve can produce honking if it needs replacing. Does it do it in park as well as driving?
