2004 Ford Expedition small leak

I have a small transmission leak around the front axle area. Dealer told me I needed to take off differential head(pumpkin head) and apply silicon and put back on. I would like to know if I will lose axle grease and have to replace it once I have the head back on. I'm told it's expensive. Thanks.

Not a big job gear lube not expensive silicone cheap enough. $100 is all i would pay.
