2003 Ford Expedition Four Wheel Drive Automatic 100k miles

I am about to be purchasing a 2003 Ford Expedition with 100k on it. It looks very clean and you can tell that the owners have taken very good care of it. But I am also very aware of ford's old problems with there transmissions and power steering with the "winding" noise. But I heard they were supposed to have corrected this problem in 2002. What have you seen with this year model? At about what mileage do they start to run into alot of problems?

Thank You

Hi:
Honestly, the expedition is a solid vehicle. The transmissions (if serviced and not abused) will last a long time. Also, the PS noise you refer to was more pron to the Windstar van. If the expedition isn't making noise now, just keep the fluid clean and serviced and it should be fine. The only thing I can say I don't like about my own is the fuel mileage. We get 17 on a trip and about 11.5 around town. Other than that, we have replaced one coil pack and the car has always run well for us.

Let me know if you have other questions.
