I live in AZ. and when the temp. gets above 110 my
truck sometimes when starting from a light will rev.
but will have little power. You can hear the change
in the pitch of the engine, it sounds as if it is reving.
Temp has reached 117 and I have had to pull off the road because I had no power. Temp. gauge is normal.

Not sure what is wrong but you're not alone. I live in Glendale and have a 2001 Expedition. I've noticed it only seems to do this when the AC is on (which is most of the time). When taking off from a light, little power and late shift to next gear and yes, it sounds different. I posted on Saturday and no one answered me either. Good Luck !!!

Hi,

I have a 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer and live in Socal. I have the same problem when it is above 99 outside. The engine sounds like it is running at 3000 RPM and there is little power. After a while it seemd to calm down after I get out of 1st gear. I took it to a dealer and they found nothing and no error codes in the transmission check, but it was not 99 that day. I thought it might be something with the transmission, but that would not explain the high engine wining. I too would like an answer, especially if this could damage the engine. Help!
