2001 Ford Expedition V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 75000+ miles

A mechanic says my vehicle won't start because of the alarm dispite my having no alarm except the "thift" light flashing. How do I disarm the alarm?

Your mechanic is correct. The system can't be disarmed. You can over ride it if you turn the key to the run position and allow it to stay there for 10+ minutes. The light should go off and it should start.

The system has many components and is an integeral component in the PCM. Therefore, if the PCM doesn't get the right signal from the system, it shuts down.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but that is the bottom line.

Hi Joe,
I turned my key to run (right) and waited for 20 minutes. The following lights were still on: engine oil,
battery, check engine, and washer lights. I started and still no response.

Hey if your theft lite is lashing is it doing it in a code like 3 flashes 1 flash and so on. If so most likely your key lost programing and is bad call a lock smith and have him come make a new key and program it and cleare the code. If key is bad keep it but mark it so you dont use it or youll have to spend more money to clear code. Keep key so if you lose the new one you can use it to make another.
