When sitting still you can at times hear a loaud buzzing sound underneath the front passenger seat. It almost sounds like some kind of pump but yet is vibrating loadly. Can you tell me what it could be? could it be a noisy tranfer case actuator? My Expedition has the automatic 4WD.

Can you describe the noise? There really isn't much under that area other than the exhaust system. As far as the actuator, that wouldn't be it. Does it sound like something metalic, a buzzer in the vehicle...?
