My Expedition recently started having white/greyish smoke come out the exhaust upon starting. It only does it for a second when you start the vehical and then goes away. It doesnt smoke while going down the road or anything. It used to be random and didnt always do it upon starting. Now it seems to do it maybe a little more often upon starting. I know the first thing that comes to mind is a blown head gasket, cracked head, or block. But other than the white/greyish smoke I cant see any other symptons that are typical of a blown head gasket. First my expedition does not, and has not EVER ran hot, it has always ran at normal temp. Second, my coolant level hasnt changed much, if any at all. The coolant levels are where there suppose to be. I checked my oil to see if it was "watery, or frothy, bubbly", but it looks normal. I have gotten up close and personal with the exhaust tail pipe to smell this white/greyish smoke when it first comes out & it doesnt smell sweet like coolant, but it smells like a SUV with 140k on it. what the hell is causing this? because I want to make it go away because its kinda embarrassing in public even though it doesnt last but a second & its not like a huge pile of smoke or anything, but is noticabe.

Now about a week ago the service light came on. i read the code & it was a P-1450 code (EVAP CODE). It has to do with the vaccuum on the gas tank being relieved. But before I got it to the shop to be looked at, the light had cut-off. the service light was maybe on for a total of 14-18 hours. I was told more than likely the vent-solenoild on the rear of the vehical got some debris in it possibly clogging it up & couldnt bleed, but it might have un-clogged while driving. Does or could this code that came up be relevant to this smoke previously stated above? If so, what?

Also over the past couple of weeks, at random times, not all the time, when i come to a redlight and stop my expedition, it will begin to idle crazy while holding the brake at the redlight. if i were to take my foot off the brake, it would actually make my car move forward without using the excelerator. while sitting there with my foot on the brake it will idle from normal to like 2000 rpms, and drop back down, & jump right back up again. when you go to drive forward, it runs normal, it just does it random when stopped. I found out when it does it at redlights that if I shift into neutral while waiting for the green light it will idle normal, so when the light turns green i shift to drive and go on. what the hell is this? is it the idle control valve?

It would be great if someone with EXPERTISE could help with these few things. My expedition has been a pretty good vehical to me, and I find it hard to believe even with 140k miles my headgasket is blown because my car has never overheated, and has been taken care of very good. My car burns oil a bit between oil changes & even sometimes i have to add a quart maybe two, but I thought that is pretty typical of an expedition with 140k. My wife is 12 weeks away from having our first child and I want to get these things squared away before he gets here, because this is the vehical he will most of the time be riding in. I do not want to get screwed over by someone for repairs that are not neccessary. Thanks

Start up smoke could be condensation-Try changing the oil/filter, replace the PCV valve and inspect vacuum hose to the brake booster.
