My car makes a slow-running grinding sound many time when I get in it after starting the ignition. The Ford service tech said that it is the ABS pump, and that it is a common noise. The vehicle is 8 years old, but the noise started after the first couple of years. I have lived with it, but now that I have found your web site, I wanted to ask you if what I was told by Ford sounded right. Have you heard of this?

If your truck has the air suspension it could be the compressor pump motor, it's usually located under the air filter box, have someone start the truck while you listen with the hood up...put your hand on the filter box and feel for the vibes!
