My truck stopped moving in traffiic. It wouldn't go forward or in reverse. I had it towed to our house where it now sits. It starts up when cranked and will move approx. 4 or 5 feet and will not move when accelarating. I know it sounds like a tranmission issue but I was wondering if it could be something more simple and less costly of replacing the transmission. Thank you for your input.

Has the check engine light come on or the OD light been flashing?

No check engine light or any other light ever came on. A loud noise started while driving and then by the time I reached a stop light and began to excellerate to take off, it wouldn't move. Then it moved about 5 feet and stopped again. It wouldn't go into reverse either. Nothing was leaking or dripping from underneath either and I checked the fluids and nothing was low.

If there are no lights coming on, it could be a few things, torque converter, broken low reverse band, front pump. I have to have you take it to a trans shop for those test.

I understand that it does need to be looked at my a professional. The problem, which is not a question, is that I have to have it towed and then if the cost is too much and unaffordable at this time, I have to have it towed out of the garage and back to where I live. I can't afford at this time an enormous repair bill. I also have an excursion which I am driving but this is my husband's vehicle, the Expedition is mine so we are down to on vehicle which makes life difficult. Thank you so very much for your input. It is most appreciated.

Kindest most sincere regards,
Janice
