With fuel guage showing a little over 1/4 full, when going down hill or coming to a stop the engine stalls. If the car sits level for a minute the engine restarts and can be driven. Filling the fuel tank at this point will take about 19.5 gallons. With a 26 gallon tank this means about 6.5 gallons left and the fuel guage was correct. Useing the car for 3 monthes and never letting the fuel get much below 1/2 tank according to the guage, no problem. Ford has no answer

Your fuel filter is restricted on the pump or inline, your pump may also be too weak to create enough suction witha low tank.
