how can i bleed all the air out of the system so that i can drive this thing

IF you need to bleed the power steering, first safely lift the front tires off the ground and support the vehicle. Next, make sure the pump is full, and with the engine off, turn the steering wheel from left to right (to the point it stops turning) several times. Make sure the pump is full. Do this until the system fluid level doesn't change and stays full. At that point, the system should be bled.
