2005 Ford Excursion Speed sensor

Hi in england we now have to fit a speed limiter if we are carring fare paying passengers and what i would like to ask is this,

am i right in thinking there is a speed sensor pick up on the transmission case so as we can pick up a speed signal to send to the limiter

Yes...the VSS sends it's signal to the PCM(computer) and if wheel spin is detected, the PCM cut off injectors as many as it calculates to bring wheels under control. A code P1270 is stored when this happens and no repairs are needed. Just reset the PCM.
