Hi,

I have a 1999 Ford Escort SE sedan. It has 78,000 miles and is a 2.0L L4 engine. I would like to know how I can replace the passenger side mirror. It is a manual mirror. I started to take it off but there must be screws somewhere that I am missing. Do I need to remove the door panel, and if so how do I do that? Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!

Most cars yes you do have to remove the door panel to access the screws behind it. There should be screws around the edge of the panel or in the handle but most newer cars the panels are held on by clips. These you have to be very very careful with cause if you break one or two it'll rattle the hell outta your patience while you drive. Sometimes it's ok to just take a flat-head screwdriver and carefully slide it around the edge and pop it loose then pull it off. Be careful about the electrical connections too you don't want to rip them out, just pull it off enought to get behind it and unplug everything. Should be easy going after that.

I found the clips on the door panel but I need to remove the window handle and I don't see any screws. I don't want to try to just pull it off in case it breaks. How do I remove the manual window handle so that I can take the door panel off to get to the screws to replace the side mirror?
