Car Heat.

I have a 1995 Ford Escort, which I have owned for approximately one year. Since purchasing the vehicle, there has been no heat or A/C in the car. I had the thermostat replaced, which kicked the heat up about 1/2 degree. A friend suggested that I have my system flushed and refilled...however, money is tight and I don't want to waste the money if this isn't the problem. Any ideas on what could be the problem and how much it would cost to fix it?

What to check next

Diagnostic guidance. Suggested checks and possible repairs are separate from the owner's reported results.

Clarify whether the blower moves air and whether the controls change its outlet and temperature. Have the heating and air-conditioning complaints assessed before paying for a flush or dashboard work.

Flush and check is the cheapest place to start it may be something inside ( heater door not opening or the selector for heat not working correctly both of these require some dash dissassembly so make sure all your heater switches are working correclty before you do anything. just move them back and forth and you should be able to hear/feel the air changing from each option.

Discussion summary

Car Heat.

A 1995 Ford Escort had little or no cabin heat and no working air conditioning since purchase. Thermostat replacement produced almost no improvement.

Reported outcome: No further inspection results or repair outcome were reported.

The reply suggested a flush and checking heater controls, but neither a cooling-system restriction nor a heater-door fault was established. The air-conditioning problem was not diagnosed.
