Can you tell me if such a car would have contained any asbestos(apart from maybe the old brake linings, which I know about) - maybe in the clutch, gaskets etc?

Are you trying to solve a problem with your car or are you concerned about your health? I would talk to the Ford dealership about use of asbestos. The dust problem is another issue.
