hi ive just bought a escort it runs sweet but every time i get to the biting point of the clutch there is a bang and the engine feels like its gonna jump threw the hood ive thought it was a loose engine mountain but they all seem to be tight althogh the engine does have some exesive play when the clutch is angaged if i lat the clutch out slowly it ok but as soon as i get to the biting point at a normal speed... bang any solution for this thanks

still sounds like a motor mount to me. does the clutch work ok?do the bell houseing bolts look tight that is the space between the enging and trans. 8) NOS

yes the gears work fine the gearbox is tight to the engine the gearbox mountain is tight but the arm that goes into the rubber moves quite a bit

you may want to have a friend help you open the hood set your hand break start the car and let you friend watch the motor as you let out on the clutch.and see what happens Caution DON'T run over your friend.let me know what you find were just going to have to narrow it down man. 8) NOS
