2003 Ford Escort Alternator or battery

No problems with out zx2 until suddenly today it wouldn't start. Absolutely nothing when you turn the key. Jump started the car twice but after driving about a block or two it would die out. radio won't come on when running it either. Would this be the alternator? Thanks
