2002 Ford Escort valves?

Engine Performance problem
2002 Ford Escort 4 cyl Automatic 157000 miles

i have a 2.0 L split port engine do the valves bend when the timing belt breaks..
and how would i know if that is what the problem is...its between this or the fuel pump...it wont turn over.

Remove the serp belt, then the three nuts holding the timing cover on, then inspect the belt, with 157,000 it's time for a new one anyway...let me know if you need the proceedures. I dont think you damaged anything.
