Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Ford Escort 4 cyl Automatic 137000 miles

I was driving 65MPH and suddenly it dropped to 20 MPH and then stopped completely. We put in a new starter and a new crankshaft position sensor and still the motor won't turn on. When we tried to turn it on it gave a small explosion type sould in the motor . Any ideas of what it might be?
