Electrical problem
2000 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Without warning, car wouldn't start...no prior hesitation or noise. Battery checked fine, starter tested ok, but was sticking. Now, the car cranks, but the new starter won't disengage. Replaced starter with solenoid (3 times). Checked for proper wiring & to be sure that it is properly grounded. Could it be the ignition or do you have any other ideas?

The black wire with red tracer at the starter should not be hot with key in the run position. The key crank position is spring loaded, when you release, it springs back to run position.
