2000 Ford Escort Rear End/Bad Tire Wear

The rear tires are wearing out very fast on my 2002 Ford Escort...don't know why...can someone tell me why this could happen? and what I can do to fix it?

As a 1st step I will suggest a 4 wheel alignment
check rear shocks
check air pressure and rotate tire
