Every time I take my foot off of the accelerator a thumping type sound comes out from the engine area. The same sound is heard, only much louder when the clutch pedal is pushed down. Any idea on what this might be? Thanks.

Could be several things but I would start with the motor mounts. Check them all. Have someone in the car and with the hood open step through what you describe and watch the engine movement. It should not be excessive as the engine accelerates and returns to idel.
