my car has been sitting unused for 6 mos. got new battery, alternator etc checked by an excellent mechanic & all things working fine. after leaving mechanic, stoppped by to get an ol change. brake lights would not go off. oil change guys said that as soon as some of the grease wore away it would be fine. could not turn them off. they were on all night & the battery (obviously) now dead. my mechanic cant think what they did & says maybe it's the switch? i am an 18 year old girl & this is my 1st car. could the oil place have done something?

Have the mechanic unplug the BOO(Brake on off)switch at the pedal, it's either no good, or out of adjustment.

There is a little rubber stopper on the brake light switch at the pedal that dry rots and eventually crumbles causing the brake lights to stay on. easy fix, <$10 at the ford dealer.
