1999 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 154k miles

my check engine light is on, when i connect the scanner it says that I have a mal function in sensor one bank one. I changed the o2 sensor before the cat converter two time already and the light hasnt turned off. what can it be?

you have to delete the trouble codes with the scanner, it will not turn off on its own.

well actually i have tried that and nothing works, it is something in the sensor! I have deleted the codes 3 times already and it keeps coming up. if i have changed the o2 sensor and that is not the problem then what it is? can you help me with this?

if you have deleted the code and it comes back then most likely the cat. converter is faulty. a bad converter will cause the oxygen sensor fault code to appear.
