the car ws running and just stopped after a loud knocking noise.The guy at the parts store suggested checking the nuture switch. where is it and how do I check it? thanks

Safety switch is located at the tranny
and if failed will not cause any sounds or noises
try and move the shifter into N and check if that help
check if have power at the starter
check engine oil
check timing belt
