1999 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 79000 miles

my car will jump as I take off from a stop sighn and when I hit the gas it does as well after 3 weeks of this the check engine light came on and it still does this can you help me?

As a 1st step need to have it checked and scanned for codes
getting the codes will help in pin pointing what is happening and where to start
most local part store can help in getting you the codes as they will scan the car for free
get the codes and let me know
check it for tune up
