1999 Ford Escort 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 99 escort ZX2 I have been losing a lot of fuel and every time I go to accelerate my car it moves forward and jolts and then is fine. Its almost like it has a hard time going and then finally goes. These are my two main concerns. Is the loss of fuel a part of it? It has been jolting for a while now but seems to be getting worse. Any help with this one would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hesitation, lack of acceleration, chugging. Bogging etc. Could be cause by one of the following below.

Inspect and test all the following listed below and get back with some results

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.
