I have a 1999 ford escort SOHV The car hesetates like it has a spark plug problem when accelerating runs fine at an idle I have changed the spark plugs - fuel filter and air filter after. I changed the spark plugs the car ran fine for two days and then started running bad again - I dont know what else it could be - Mabee a bad ECM? Driving down the freeway the car will hesatate once in a while but then when push on the accelerator it hesetates worse like it has a fould plug. Any idea please hellp

I noticed that you had changed the spark plugs and no mention of the wires
this is what I would do :
1. check for codes and specially if check engine is on or coming on
2. check spark plug wires (you can use an ohm meter or run car fill a spray bolt with water and spray the wires look for arcing )
3. also check fuel pressure and fuel flow
I don’t believe its an computer problem
let me know if you have codes

About 90% of the time, it due to a contaminated Mass air flow sensor. But sometimes, especially with high mileage cars the fuel pump can be going...

I did not have a check engine light come on at all - I had autozone check for codes anyway but they did not get any - I went ahead and purchased spark plug wires and so far the car runs great - I guese I should have changed them with the plugs and filters - Thanks for your help
