1999 Ford Escort Catalytic converter

I needed to change my converter and I bought the following converter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C916KM/ref=oss_product. Its the Walker Exhaust 15036 Universal Catalytic Converter . My friend who is currently repairing my vehicle says that it doesn't fit. I did the research before buying the converter and it supposedly will fit on my 1998 Ford Escort ZX2. He has the car right now, and this is pissing me off. He's not a certified mechanic, he does it as a hobby, I hope he's wrong because I hate wasting money. Anyway here's my question, will that converter fit on my ZX2 or not?

This is a universal unit and requires cutting and welding and not an easy job to do if not equipped
If you to wake into the shop holding it in your hand and ask us to replace it we would turn you away
