1999 Ford Escort car not turning off

I tried to turn off the car but the car stays on. Key turns back, but the engine stay on. Please help? I had to disconnect the battery so the car would turn off.

Replace the ignition switch !

My friend with a chevy colbalt had similar problem. Turns out that she had a huge leak in her radiator and the car fan stayed on so that the engine would cool down. I dont know if this helps but I tried
